Q: How do I submit a News article from the Front End?

To submit a News article from the Front End of iD, you will need the appropriate Security credentials:

To post News via the Front End of the Intranet, please view the News Overview

Q: I want to create a list of Advertisements that will appear like News, but don't want to have it on the homepage all the time. Can Intranet DASHBOARD do this?

One method to create Advertisements in the form of News articles - for example, job ad postings would be created as follows:

Create a News category for the jobs (Note: you will need to log into both the Front End and The Admin to perform the steps below)
Via the Front End, place the News category on the layout via Layout Manager
Then navigate to News and click on More News for the category to view the full list
Copy the URL from the address bar
In the Admin, create a new item in the Navigation menu using Nav Editor; paste the copied URL as the link
Remove the News Category from the layout via Layout Manager
On the Front End, select the link from the navigation and the the list of jobs in the category will now be displayed

Q: How can I vary the date-format-display for News articles published within iD?

You can vary the date-format-display for regular News articles published within iD using the config setting DATE_FORMAT_FOR_NEWS_COMPONENT.

Note: This functionality only applies to the iD CMS News Component; you cannot change the date format at all for RSS and external News Feeds.

Go to The Admin of the system and select Administration > Utilities > Config Settings > Settings tab
You can either filter settings to locate the setting you would like to modify, or scroll through the list of categories to find the applicable setting

Name Date Format for News Component
Code DATE_FORMAT_FOR_NEWS_COMPONENT
Description The date format for the news component when news is shown on the layout of a subsite or in iD CMS.
Value dd-MMM-yyyy

Select the Date Format for New Component setting and change the value to suit your requirements
Click Update to refresh the setting
