Intranet DASHBOARD has three different settings for Intranet Site security which can be set.

Version 1.3.x and prior: 

1. Edit the configSettings.xml file in the Intranet DASHBOARD/wwwroot/cfr/folder
   
   
2. Change the key referenced as FRONTEND_SECURITY_TYPE as per below
   
   
3. Once these values have been updated please restart IIS or recycle to application pool

Version 1.4.x - 2.0.x:

1. Log into The Admin of Intranet DASHBOARD and navigate to Administration > Utilities > Config Settings
   
   
2. Locate the setting called Frontend Security Type and click on it
   
   
3. In the textbox labeled Value set as per below values (without double quotes)
   
   
4. Once the values have been updated click Update Settings then Refresh Settings

1. Log into The Admin of Intranet DASHBOARD and navigate to Administration > Utilities > Config Settings
   
   
2. Locate the setting called Frontend Security Type and click on it
   
   
3. Using the Value dropdown select Security Type as per below values
   
   
4. Once the value has been selected click Update Settings then Refresh Settings

Version 6.0.x:

1. Log into The Admin of Intranet DASHBOARD and navigate to Administration > Utilities > Config Settings
   
   
2. You can either filter settings to locate the setting you would like to modify, or scroll through the list of categories to find the applicable setting
   
   Category Front End Security
   Name Frontend Security Type
   Code FRONTEND_SECURITY_TYPE
   Value LoginOnDemand
   
     
   
   
   
   Select the Frontend Security Type setting and change the Properties setting value to one of the values listed below (see also explanations):
   
   - None
   - Login
   - LoginOnDemand
   - ActiveDirectory
   
   
3. Click Update to refresh the setting

FRONTEND_SECURITY_TYPE

Can have the following values:

"None"

"Login"

"LoginOnDemand"

"ActiveDirectory" 



This setting indicates the type of front end security to be used on the site. "None" is no security; "Login" requires the user to enter login details in a login page; "ActiveDirectory" will attempt to automatically retrieve the users login details; "LoginOnDemand" will require a user to enter login details when accessing a secured resource area.



Additional information for security type "None"
Setting the security type to None configures Intranet DASHBOARD to not authenticate users when accessing the iD website. This enables organizations without Active Directory to run without having to prompt users for a username and password each time they access the intranet site. Once this has been changed you must alter the website configuration for IIS and change the authenication mode to Anonymous only and remove all options for Windows authentication from the iD website properties within Internet Information Services Manager. Please note if you are running Windows 2003 you may also need to double check that the anonymous user account you have set up in IIS has the same password configured as in Users and Groups on the server as it's a local account. Secure folders will not be able to be used with security type None as all users are anonymous.



Additional information for security type "Login"
When changing to Login security type this will prompt users to enter a username and password to log into iD. This is most commonly used in an Extranet enviornment and requires all users to be manually created in the admin system. The default username for Login mode is guest and password guest.



Additional information for security type "LoginOnDemand"   Similar to Login mode users are created by the administrators although by default all users are given access to all parts of the intranet. At any time a user can Login with their details and then access secure areas restricted to their login account.



Additional information for security type "ActiveDirectory" ActiveDirectory security will verify on the first request to the server that a client is part of your ActiveDirectory domain and save a record of their AD login credentials (eg DOMAIN\username) for limiting access to certain parts of the site. Please note that you must have a AD domain, your web server must be a member of the domain and clients must also belong to the domain for ActiveDirectory security to work. 

FRONTEND_SECURITY_SINGLE_SIGNIN

Can be either "True" or "False". If "True" then single sign-inwill be enabled for the front end. i.e. Only one user at a time will beable to log in with the same username. This setting is only used whenthe security type is set to "Login".
