Q: Why can't I see the top toolbar to edit and create pages?

The toolbar provides several options for creating, editing and saving content with iD CMS. Depending on your content creation rights, you will be offered a range of editing options on the top tool bar.

To confirm that you have the ability to edit or create content (i.e. have access to the top toolbar) you will need to check you have the relevant permissions within iD CMS.

To do this you will need access to The Admin of the intranet:

From the Application Explorer, select the subsite you wish to create/edit content within
Select iD CMS from the application list and open the Manage Content menu
Select the iD CMS Root folder and then click Modify Folder
Select the Security Tab which will allow you to confirm you have the required security level to create and edit content

If you are not yet listed in the Security, add yourself as a listed user and apply the correct security level. For more information on the different security levels, click here.
Access an existing iD CMS page from the Front End and you should now be able to view the top toolbar. This provides you with all the editing and creating options associated with your security level

Q: I've updated a template, can these changes be passed on to a page?

Yes, here is the process:

Navigate to the existing page you wish to update
Edit the page
Once the page is in Edit Mode, additional options will become available within the Editing Toolbar.

To update the page's underlying template, select the Page Properties tab
Here, select Update Template
From here, the Select Template pop-up will display the available templates.

Select the template you wish to use and press OK. Your page will be updated to utilize the selected template.

Note: Templates must be assigned to a folder in order to be available for selection, view this process here.

The FAQ application provides a way of creating and grouping frequently asked questions. FAQs are categorized into instances, each of which can be placed separately into the Layout of a site. An instance is a collection of FAQs that can be taken from a share repository spanning the whole intranet.
