Q: How do I change the text that appears in the title bar of the browser?

To change the title of your site follow these steps:

Login to The Admin of Intranet DASHBOARD (http://<intranet>/admin) as superuser or admin account with superuser access
Go to Administration > Utilities > Config Settings
You can either filter settings to locate the setting you would like to modify or scroll through the list of categories to find the applicable setting

Select the System Name setting and change its value to the title text required
Click Update to refresh the setting

Q: Can I update the automated mail message(s) that get sent to Front End Users?

Yes, you are able to edit the automated email messages sent by Intranet DASHBOARD for the following emails:

requestDetailsEmail
welcomeEmail
welcomeEmailFEUsers
userApprovedEmail
expiredContentEmail

Q: Can I enforce strong passwords for Administrators?

There are 3 Config Settings that can be set which control the behavior of setting Strong Passwords on Admin User accounts.

The Strong Password setting changes the requirements for all Admin User passwords and can be enabled and disabled using the Strong Password Enable Config Setting.

When the Properties Setting Value is set to False, Admin Users can have simple passwords.

The following rules for passwords are:

- Must be at least 7 characters in length
- Must be no more than 15 characters in length
- May not contain spaces

When the Properties Setting Value is set to True, Admin Users must conform to stricter guidelines.

The follow rules for passwords are:

- must be at least 7 characters in length.
- must be no more than 15 characters in length.
- may not conatin spaces
- may not contain your name, username or company name
- may not contain dictionary words
- must contain at least one upper or lowercase letter, at least one digit and at least one of the following special characters: ~!@#$%^&*+=-_?

When the Strong Password Enable setting is first set to True, all Admin Users will be required to change their password during their next login.

The Strong Passwords Enable Pw Never Expires Config Setting will set the password to expire.

The Strong Passwords Expiry Days Config Setting sets the number of days the password will expire. By default the value is set to 30 days, ie. password for an iD account will expire every 30 days.

Q: How do I setup an SMTP Server?

To setup an SMTP Server you must first specify the Mail Server:

Login to The Admin of Intranet DASHBOARD
In the Application Explorer navigate to: Administration > Utilities > Config Settings
You can either filter settings to locate the setting you would like to modify, or scroll through the list of categories to find the applicable setting
The Mail Server config setting is listed as follows:

Category Email
Name Mail Server
Code MAIL_SERVER
In the Value field, enter your Exchange Server
Click Update to refresh the setting
To test the SMTP server configuration, login to The Admin of Intranet DASHBOARD and navigate to: Administration > Utilities > Email Settings > SMTP Checker

If you would like to use SMTP Authentication you will need to specify the SMTP Username and Password. This is done by completing the steps below:

Login to The Admin of Intranet DASHBOARD and navigate to: Administration > Utilities > Config Settings
Click Add Setting and fill in the following details:

Code SMTP_USERNAME
Value Enter your username here
Click Update to refresh this setting
Click Add Setting again and fill in the following details:

Name Smtp Password
Code SMTP_PASSWORD
Value Enter your password here

Q: How can I increase the performance of iD during periods of high traffic?

The most effective way is to enable data caching. This will increase performance significantly by caching the majority of database requests for homepage data. (eg. nav, quicklinks, news etc).

To enable the data cache open the web.config file located in the wwwroot folder in your Intranet DASHBOARD installation directory.

Locate the </appSettings> line and insert the following just above it (if these lines already exist simply make sure ENABLE_DATA_CACHE is set as "True")

The MIN and MAX cache minutes settings are the extent to which data is cached.

For example, when you add a News article it will take somewhere between MIN_CACHE_MINUTES and MAX_CACHE_MINUTE to appear on the Front End.

This will significantly reduce the number of database requests during periods of high activity, increasing performance

This feature applies to Intranet DASHBOARD Version 1.5 +

Q: Once I have purchased a license, how do I implement the license on my Intranet DASHBOARD installation?

From within the Client Portal (http://client.intranetdashboard.com), locate the Licenses section; you will now have a license listed here
Click Download to initialize the license download
Save the file into the wwwroot\bin directory of your installation folder. By default this folder would be located as follows:- C:\Program Files\IntranetDashboard\wwwroot\bin\

You will need to overwrite the existing Core.lic file within this directory.

NOTE: By default Windows 2003 Server will try to save the file as Core.lic.XML, you will need to make sure the file is not saved with the XML extension.
You are now ready to activate your License. From within The Admin of Intranet DASHBOARD, click Activate Online to activate your license, or alternatively you can activate via email by contacting us

Congratulations, you now have a licensed version of Intranet DASHBOARD!

Q: When I go to the Admin > Website Users > Login Log, it says the Website User logging is not currently enabled. How do I enable Website User logging?

To enable the Website User Logging, the Frontend Security Record Login Config Setting needs to be set within the iD Administration.

Go to Administration > Utilities > Config Settings > Settings Tab
You can either filter settings to locate the setting you would like to modify or scroll through the list of categories to find the applicable setting

Code FRONTEND_SECURITY_RECORD_LOGINS
Description Records all logins into the Front End

Select the Frontend Security Record Logins setting and change the Properties setting value to True
Click Update to refresh the setting
