Can I set security on the Navigation and Quick Links to only display based on the Website User Login?
Answer: The security-based navigation functionality causes Navigation Links and Quicklinks to only be displayed if the logged-in website user has permission to access the target page of the link. Note: This feature is for the Front End only, and only affects Website Users when they view the Navigation bar or Quicklinks on the Front End. By default, all Navigation links and Quick Links are displayed to everyone regardless of security. This functionality can be turned On or Off at any time using the Link security login required config setting. If the Link security login required Config Setting does not appear in the list of settings, please follow these steps: Go to The Admin of the system and select Administration > Utilities > Config Settings Click Add Setting Enter the following details Name Link security login required Code LINK_SECURITY_LOGIN_REQUIRED Type Boolean Value True Description Only display Navigation and Quick Links if the logged-in website user has permission to access the target page of the link Category Front End Customization Click OK to save and add the setting When the setting Link security login required is set to True, Website Users will only see the Navigation Links and Quicklinks that they have permission to access. When it is set to False they will see all Navigation Links and Quicklinks. (Note: if a user follows a link they don’t have access to, they will not be able to view the target). Intranet DASHBOARD uses the Security functionality to determine which links should be displayed. To set which links are to be displayed to whom you just need to set up FrontEnd Security on the pages/items you want secured. To use this functionality you must be running Intranet DASHBOARD Version 2.1.4 or above.
