Adding an Add-On to an existing Template and iD CMS page

Add-On Apps (also known as API Components) are component-based applications that operate and are configurable via iD CMS.

To configure an iD Add-On, you will need to access iD CMS via the Front End of your intranet. You must first add the Add-Onn App to the iD CMS template, as templates dictate which components can be used on iD CMS pages.

Adding an Add-On to an existing template and iD CMS page

The following steps show you how to make the SharePoint Connector Add-On available on existing iD CMS pages; the same steps can be applied to other iD Add-Ons, e.g. Social Media Add-Ons including Twitter, Facebook, and Yammer
Select the Manage iD CMS Content link from either the Breadcrumb Bar in the top left of the page or under Actions in the Footer

Click on the folder which contains the template in which you would like to include the Add-On, e.g. SharePoint Connector
Once the folder and its content are displayed, click Manage This Folder
Click iD CMS Templates to select the template you wish to modify
Once the template has loaded, click the Components tab and then select External to display the external components (or Add-Ons) that are currently available for this template. These components are installed separately to iD and created using the iD API
Click Set Allowed Components to select which external components are allowed to be used on this template and its subsequent iD CMS pages.
A pop-up window will open that will display a list of iD API Components that are currently installed. In this case, we should see SharePoint as an option. Select SharePoint and click OK
To view the SharePoint Connector component so that it can be added to this template, select Manage Components
A list of the Allowed Components for this template will be displayed. Select SharePoint and click OK
The SharePoint Connector component will now appear in the External component's list
Save the template. This will ensure that the SharePoint Connector will be accessible to all pages based on this template
Now you need to edit an iD CMS page that uses the template you have edited
Once the page loads, you will see a notification advising you that the Template used is not up to date. You can either View Template, Update Template or click the 'x' icon to close the notification. Click the 'x' to close the notification. We will update the template via the Page Properties (see instructions below)
To update the page template via the Page Properties, click Properties on the Editing Toolbar, and then click Update Template.

Select the Template you would like to update as the page template. Note: for our purposes, we want to select the same template that we initially added the SharePoint Connector to, however, in general, you are able to select any template to update as the page template.

We will select The Simple Page Template and click OK
The iD CMS page will refresh itself. To check that the page template has been updated, click Components and select External. You will see that the SharePoint Connector is now available to be used on this iD CMS page.
Drag and drop it onto the page to include it
Once you have finished modifying the iD CMS page, click the Save icon and select Publish to Live & Exit - this will publish the page to live immediately and exit out of Edit Mode

Enter a description of the changes made and click Save

Adding an Add-On to a new template and iD CMS page

The following steps show how to make the SharePoint Connector Add-On available on a new template and iD CMS page; the same steps can be applied to other iD Add-Ons; e.g. Media Add-Ons including Twitter, Facebook, and Yammer
Navigate to an existing folder that you wish to create a template for and click on it
Go to the Editing Toolbar at the top of the screen and select Folder Actions > Manage Folder
Additional options will become available; to add a new template, select Folder Actions > New Template
The New Template wizard will be initiated

Step 1 - Details
Specify the name of the template as well as the description. The name and description fields should accurately reflect the purpose of the folder

Step 2 - Folders
The list of folders that the user has Full Control access to will appear. Select the folder(s) you would like the new template to be made available for

Step 3 - Finish
Review the options selected and either go back and change any of the details selected, or proceed with the template creation by clicking the Finish button

Once the Finish button has been clicked, you are directed to the Edit Template functionality where additional customization of the template takes place

Once in Edit Mode, you will notice a set of headings across the top of the screen. These assist you with creating the new template (see below for brief explanation on each section - click here for more information about creating templates)

Structure	Provides the user with the ability to structure the underlying layout of the page

	Import	To create a template from an existing page or template within the system

	Insert	Rows and columns can be inserted into the current template

	Delete	Rows and columns can be deleted from the current template; any content contained within a row or column that has been deleted will be lost

	Merge	Cells can be merged horizontally or vertically

	Unmerge	Cells can be unmerged; only cells that have previously been merged will have the option to be unmerged

	Edit Current Cell	Edit the Cell Properties including Width, Alignment, and Padding

Components	Allows the user to add components to the template with predefined content, manage the available component properties and even create Custom Components Components are stored within 6 subsections, to add components, select the component you wish to add and drag it onto the template

	Site Framework	Breadcrumb Bar, iD CMS Page, Navigation, Search, Site Footer, Site Header, Site List, User Manager

	Application	Ad Manager, Clever Tools, Company Calendar, Contact Manager, Document Manager, Employee Training, FAQ, Forms Manager, Forum, News, Online Forms, Page List, People Search, Quick Links, Quick Poll, Sports Tipping, Staff Offers, Unread Items, World Time

	Media	File Download, Horizontal Rule, Image, Video, Webpage Frame

	Text	Formatted Text, Heading, Html, Quote, Unformatted Text

	External	E.g. Facebook, SharePoint, Twitter, Yammer

	Shared	Any components that have been shared

Properties	Provide the user with the ability to edit the: template title, description, active status, the category/subsites where the template can be used and preview thumbnail to upload a preview of the template

Version Control	Provides the user with version information that documents changes made to the template, as well as allowing the user to revert to a previous version if required

To add SharePoint Connector to the template, click the Components tab and select External to display the external components (or Add-Ons) that are currently available for this template. These components are installed separately to iD and are created using the iD API

Now you need to create a new iD CMS page that uses the template you have edited

The new iD CMS page will load in Edit Mode. The page will have all the elements that are included in the template it is based on.
Select the Components tab and click External. This tab contains the components that have been installed separately to iD and have been created using the iD API. It will only display components that the template has set to be allowed, and that have been included on the page.
Note: If the External tab is empty, you will need to add the external component. To do this, click Manage Components. This will open a pop-up window which will display a list of iD API Components that have been allowed at the template level. In this case, we should see SharePoint as an option. Select SharePoint and click OK
The SharePoint Connector icon will now appear under the External subsection. Drag and drop it onto the page to include it
Once you have finished modifying the iD CMS page, click the Save icon and select Publish to Live & Exit - this will publish the page to live immediately and exit out of Edit Mode

Enter a description of the changes made and click Save
