Managing Layouts

Layouts are managed from their respective subsite. Security settings govern who can modify the structure and content of layouts.

This process is conducted through the Front End of iD and will depend on the level of Security applied.

Layout Actions

The Actions menu offers options for the current layout that you're editing. These options are Edit Properties, Move, Delete or Revert the layout.

To access the Actions menu, navigate to the subsite you wish to edit the layout for and then select Edit Layout option from the Editing Toolbar at the top the screen. You will be taken into Edit Mode for the layout and presented with the option to select Actions as shown below

Edit Properties - allows you to view/edit Layout Details, Owner(s), Version Control and Discussion

Move Layout - allows you to relocate layouts from one subsite to another

Delete Layout - allows you to remove and delete existing layouts

Revert Layout - allows you to go back to a previous version of the layout

Edit Properties

Edit Properties allows you to view/modify the details of the current layout. Properties related to the page are managed via the following categories; Details, Owner(s), Version Control and Discussion. These options relate to the overall management of the Layout Manager.

Details - here you can set the Layout Title, Layout URL, Template information, Description, Publish/Expiry Date(s)
Owners - here you can view/edit the owner(s) of the layout
Version Control - here you can view and edit all previous versions of the layout and revert to any previous version.
Discussion - here administrators can leave comments about the layout. Selecting Submit will post your username, post date and time against your comment.

Moving a Layout

The following explains the 2 methods of moving a layout or a group of layouts.

Move Layout(s) via list

Navigate to the subsite that contains the layout(s) you wish to move
Select Manage Layout from the top of the screen and the available layouts will be displayed
Select the checkbox of the relevant layout(s) you would like to move and select the Move option from the Actions Bar located above the list of layouts.

Note: you can move multiple layouts by selecting more than one checkbox/layout
The Move popup will be initiated, select the destination subsite and click OK to move the selected layout(s) to the new destination
A Move Confirmation will be displayed

Move layout via Edit Layout Mode

Navigate to the layout you wish to move
Go to the Editing Toolbar at the top of the screen and select Edit Layout where you will be taken to Edit Mode
Select Actions from the Editing Toolbar
Select Move Layout
A Move popup will be initiated where you can select the Subsite and folder to move the layout to
Once the destination has been selected, click OK to move the layout to the new destination

Deleting a Layout

A layout can be deleted either when Editing the layout or at the list view. The follow the explains the 2 methods of deleting a layout or layouts.

Delete Layout(s) via list view

Navigate to the subsite that contains the layout(s) you wish to delete
Select Manage Layout from the top of the screen and the available layouts will be displayed
Select the checkbox next the layout you wish to delete and select the Delete option in the Actions Bar located above the list of layouts available

Note: you can delete multiple layouts by selecting more than one checkbox/layout
A Delete Confirmation will be displayed
Click OK and the deleted layout(s) will be added to the Recycle Bin

Delete Layout via Edit Layout Mode

Navigate to the layout you wish to delete
Go to the Editing Toolbar at the top of the layout and select Edit Layout where you will be taken to Edit mode
Select Actions from the Editing Toolbar
Select Delete Layout
A Delete confirmation will be initiated. Select the OK button to delete the layout

Reverting a Layout

Layouts can be reverted provided you have been granted the Front End Security of "Editor" or above.

Follow the instructions below to revert a layout:

Navigate to the subsite that contains the layout(s) you wish to revert.
Go to the Editing Toolbar at the top of the layout and select Edit Layout where you will be taken to Edit mode
Select Actions from the Editing Toolbar where you will be presented with the Revert option
Selecting the Revert Layout option will take you to the editing state of the last saved version of the layout.

Note: All subsequent changes will be lost.
