Component Properties

Instructional Video

The Video Component is used to add video content to your site - either by embedding from an external source e.g. YouTube, or by uploading and storing within iD.

The advantages of using the Video Component are:

Inbuilt automatic encoding of uploaded videos
Easily embed from external sources
Multiple filetype support (AVI, WMV, MOV and MP4)
Autoplay: set video to start automatically when a page loads
Looped playback: set the video to restart automatically once it has finished playing
Customizable start image
Full screen mode
Automatically selects the optimum playback format (HTML5, Silverlight or Flash)

Editing Content

Video Upload
To upload a video, select Edit Content as shown below.

Select Upload Video to upload and store a video in iD, or select Embed Video to embed the source of an external video. Click OK and your video will be displayed.

Component Properties

Authorized used are given the ability to edit the properties of the Video Component. By editing the properties the authorized user can adjust the available functionality and the look and feel of the component within the site.

The editing of the properties is divided into 3 tabs:

General Properties
Allows users to enable and disable general styling and formatting properties.
Player Properties
Allows users to enable and disable properties that are specific to the Video Component, eg. Player Type, Width & Height, Video & Audio Encoding Quality, Auto Play and Looped Playback, Start Image Type and Time.
Template Properties
These properties are set within the template and are not usually editable as they control the overall use of a component. For example, a component can be configured so that the component itself cannot be removed.

General
General properties are related to the general appearance of the component within its nominated location. Listed below are the properties available for modification.

Name
Default Value: None
The name of the component, used as the identifier for the component.

Heading
Default Value:
Enter text to add a heading.

Border Color
Default Value: None
The border color sets the color of the border rendered around the component.

Border Style - NONE | DOTTED | DASHED | SOLID | DOUBLE | GROOVE | RIDGE | INSET | OUTSET
Default Value: None
The border style determines the style applied to the border around the component. A style of none indicates that a border will not be added.

Border Width
Default Value: 2px
The border width sets the border width around the component.

Padding - LEFT | RIGHT | TOP | BOTTOM
Default Value: 0px
The padding property specifies the padding that will be placed around the component. Specific values can be applied to the left, right, top and bottom sections of the component's boundary.

Justification - LEFT | RIGHT | CENTER
Default Value: Left
The justification of all content within the component.

Player
Player properties are related to the specific component's player appearance and functionality within the site. Listed below are the properties available for modification.

Player Type - HTML5/Flash | Silverlight
Default Value: HTML5/Flash
The type of player used by the browser to render the video.

Width
Default Value: 450px
The width of the component. This does not change the aspect ratio of the video, just the space in which the component displays.

Height
Default Value: 300px
The height of the component. This does not change the aspect ratio of the video, just the space in which the component displays.

Video Encoding Quality - LOW | STANDARD | HIGH | EXCELLENT
Default Value: Standard
Once a video is uploaded it is automatically encoded. This setting dictates the quality of the encoded video. Please note: as the quality increases, so does the amount of data being sent across the network.

Audio Encoding Quality - LOW | STANDARD | HIGH | EXCELLENT
Default Value: Standard
Once a video is uploaded it is automatically encoded. This setting selects the quality of the video's audio. Please note: as the quality increases, so does the amount of data being sent across the network.

Enable Autoplay
Default Value: False
Enables the video to begin playing as soon as a page with this component on it has been loaded.

Enable Looped Playback
Default Value: False
Enables the video to replay automatically once it has finished.

Start Image Type
Default Value: Image
Select Time to take a snapshot of a particular time in the video to display when the page is loaded; or select Image to upload an image to display when the page is loaded.

Start Image Time
Default Value: 10
If Time is selected in Start Image Type, enter (in seconds) a point in time in the video where the snapshot will be taken. The snapshot will be displayed when the page is loaded.

Start Image
Default Value:
If Image is selected in Start Image Type, upload an image (.gif, .jpg, .png). This image will be displayed when the page is loaded.

Template
The Template properties are set at template level and cannot be edited elsewhere. Listed below are the properties within the template properties.

Allow Inline Editing
Default Value: True
This property determines if the component's content can be modified from the default content provided via the template.

Allow Removal
Default Value: True
This property determines if the component can be removed from the current location.

Allow Repositioning
Default Value: True
This property determines if the component can be moved within its current position (drag and drop).

Allow Sharing
Default Value: True
This property determines if the component can be shared for other users to use within the site.

Allow Property Editing
Default Value: True
This property determines if the properties of the component can be modified from the default settings provided via the template.

Maximum Filesize
Default Value: 100MB
This property determines the maximum file size of each individual file uploaded to the component.
