Component Properties

The Unread Documents Component can be used to embed and display a list of Document Manager files - enabling Administrators to alert users of the files required to be read. Any additional files added to the Unread List will be simultaneously reflected in all other locations where the component appears.

The advantages of using the Unread Documents Component are:

Users can quickly establish which files they need to read
Once read from within the component, the list is updated

To add files to a user's Unread Documents List, please see the Required Read List functionality in Document Manager.

Existing Unread Item Source

An existing Unread Document Source from within the Document Manager app can be selected via the tree-view control as shown below. Once a source has been selected, click OK to confirm the selection.

Component Properties

Authorized users are given the ability to edit the properties of the Unread Documents Component. By editing the properties the authorized user can adjust the available functionality and the look and feel of the component within the site.

The editing of the properties is divided into 3 tabs:

General Properties
Allows users to enable and disable general styling and formatting properties.
Component Properties
Allows users to enable and disable properties that are specific to the Unread Documents Component, e.g. target, number of items to show
Template Properties
These properties are set within the template and are not usually editable as they control the overall use of a component. For example, a component can be configured so that the component itself cannot be removed.

General
General properties are related to the general appearance of the component within its nominated location. Listed below are the properties available for modification.

Name
Default Value: None
The name of the component, used as the identifier for the component.

Heading
Default Value:
Enter text to add a heading.

Border Style - NONE | DOTTED | DASHED | SOLID | DOUBLE | GROOVE | RIDGE | INSET | OUTSET
Default Value: None
The border style determines the style applied to the border around the component. A style of none indicates that a border will not be added.

Border Color
Default Value: None
The border color sets the color of the border rendered around the component.

Border Width
Default Value: 2px
The border width sets the border width around the component. A width of 0 indicates that a border will not be added.

Padding - LEFT | RIGHT | TOP | BOTTOM
Default Value: 0px
The padding property specifies the padding that will be placed around the component. Specific values can be applied to the left, right, top and bottom sections of the component's boundary.

Component
The Component properties are related to the specific component's visual appearance and functionality. Listed below are the properties available for modification.

Target - New Window | Current Window
Default Value: New Window
Specifies how links are opened.

Number Of Items To Show - 5 | 10 | 15 | 20
Default Value: 10
The maximum number of unread items to show in the component.

Template
The Template properties are set at the template level and cannot be edited elsewhere. Listed below are the properties within the template properties.

Allow Property Editing
Default Value: True
This property determines if the properties of the component can be modified from the default settings provided via the template.

Allow Inline Editing
Default Value: True
This property determines if the component's content can be modified from the default content provided via the template.

Allow Repositioning
Default Value: True
This property determines if the component can be moved to its current position (drag and drop).

Allow Sharing
Default Value: True
This property determines if the component can be shared for other users to use within the site.
