Search Component (Version 6.0 and above)

Use the Search Component to add a customized search to your layout or page. Create dedicated searches with specific filters so that users can run a search on a subsite, application or file type.

This process is conducted through the Front End of iD and will depend on the level of Security applied.

How to Set Up Search Filters

Drag the component onto the location

Hover over the Search header, Go to Component Properties

Select the tab titled Component. Go to field titled Search Filter

At the Search Filter enter the specifications for how you want this Search to filter results as per the below. Note: The order in which you set up the Filters does not affect the results. It is imperative that the below instructions are followed exactly.

An example of filtering that would return results from The intranet only, marketing subsite, PDF’s.

You can filter by 1) Application 2) File Type & 3) Subsite. See below for options.

Note: Refer to your subsite listing to obtain the relevant subsite name.

Once the Filters have been created, run to the tab titled General to set a Heading

The heading you add will help users understand what this search box does.

Component Properties

Authorized users are given the ability to edit the properties of the Search Component. By editing the properties the authorized user can adjust the available functionality and the look and feel of the component within the site.

The editing of the properties is divided into 3 tabs:

General Properties
Allows users to enable and disable general styling and formatting properties.
Component Properties
Allows users to enable and disable properties that are specific to the Search Component e.g. Search Filter, Heading, Description, Link Text, Link
Template Properties
These properties are set within the template and are not usually editable as they control the overall use of a component. For example, a component can be configured so that the component itself cannot be removed.

General
General properties are related to the general appearance of the component within its nominated location. Listed below are the properties available for modification.

Name
Default Value: None
The name of the component, used as the identifier for the component.

Border Color
Default Value: None
The border color setse the color of the border rendered around the component.

Border Style - NONE | DOTTED | DASHED | SOLID | DOUBLE | GROOVE | RIDGE | INSET | OUTSET
Default Value: None
The border style determines the style applied to the border applied around the component. A style of none indicates that a border will not be added.

Border Width
Default Value: 2px
The border width sets the border width around the component. A width of 0 indicates that a border will not be added.

Padding - LEFT | RIGHT | TOP | BOTTOM
Default Value: 0px
The padding property specifies the padding that will be placed around the component. Specific values can be applied to the left, right, top and bottom sections of the component's boundary.

Component
The Component properties are related to the specific component's visual appearance and functionality. Listed below are the properties available for modification.

Search Filter
Default Value:
Enter search filters in order to limit the results which can be returned when searching. To read more on how to set up filter, see further below.

Heading
Default Value:
Component Heading (if left blank, the heading will default to 'Search').

Description
Default Value:
Text to be displayed above the search box.

Link Text
Default Value:
The text to be displayed below the search box if the link property has been set.

Link
Default Value:
Provide a link to access other content and applications within iD or from an external URL

Template
The Template properties are set at the template level and cannot be edited elsewhere. Listed below are the properties within the Template properties.

Allow Property Editing
Default Value: True
This property determines if the properties of the component can be modified from the default settings provided via the template.

Allow Inline Editing
Default Value: True
This property determines if the component's content can be modified from the default content provided via the template.

Allow Removal
Default Value: True
This property determines if the component can be removed from the current location.

Allow Repositioning
Default Value: True
This property determines if the component can be moved within its current position (drag and drop).

Allow Sharing
Default Value: True
This property determines if the component can be shared for other users to use within the site.
