Search reporting

Please, login to The Admin to complete the following steps.

Processing statistics

Select Process Stats from the Statistics Reporter menu
Select the Process tab
Select the Processing Type: Automatically or Manually
To Manually process statistics:

- Select Manually under the Process Stats heading

- Click Start, the Current Status will change to Running
To Automatically process statistics:

- Select Automatically under the Process Stats heading

- Select the day(s) you would like the processor to run
(Note: multiple days can be selected by holding CTRL and clicking the desired days)

- Select the date you would like the processor to begin running automatically

- Select the time of day the processor should run (in UTC or GMT time)

- Click Apply to save while remaining on the current page, click OK to save and return to the Statistics Reporter menu

- The statistics will now be processed automatically on the selected day(s), at the selected time, from the selected date
All data processed can be viewed by selecting the View link under the Processing Log File heading. The log file can also be deleted by selecting Clear File
The subsite administrator can be sent an email each time the statistics are processed. To enable this, select Email Notification
Click Apply to save while remaining on the current page, click OK to save and return to the Statistics Reporter menu

Advanced statistics processing

Select Process Stats from the Statistics Reporter menu
Select the Advanced tab
- Clear old stats until:
  
  When Clear is selected, all statistics older than the selected date will be deleted.
  This is useful for reducing the size of the log tables and freeing up hard disk space.
- Clear stats from:
  
  When Clear is selected, all statistics newer than the selected date will be deleted.
  This is useful for reducing the size of the log tables and freeing up hard disk space.
- Update stats:
  
  When Update has selected all statistics logged on the selected date will be re-processed.
  This is useful for updating recent statistics data without having to re-process all data.
- Reprocess stats for a period:
  
  When Re-Process is selected, all statistics logged in between the selected dates will be updated.
  This is useful for updating recent statistics data without having to re-process all data.

Search Reporting

Your IT team can run SQL queries to find out what search terms your users have been entering into the Search Bar. This reporting is not contained within the Statistics Reporter Admin menu but can be accessed in 3 ways depending on your requirements.

To run the queries below, please contact your IT department.

Overall list of search terms and counts the number of times they've been searched

SELECT COUNT(Q.SearchQuery) + COUNT((Q.CacheHits -1)) AS TimesSearched, Q.SearchQuery
FROM [Search].[SearchLog] L

See what terms have been searched for between two dates
