Adding a new Nav Bar

Please, login to The Admin to complete the following steps.

Select Add Nav Bar from the Nav Editor menu
Enter Nav Details
- Enter a Name for the new Nav Bar, the Name will only be used for administrator reference and is not visible on the intranet
- Select Shared to allow the Nav Bar to be shared with and used in other subsites
- Select Allow Editing to allow users from other subsites to make changes to the Nav Bar
- The Navigation Position defines the way the Nav Bar will appear on the site
- If the Vertical Navigation Position is selected then the Display Home Link options are presented which allows you to display the Home link in your Nav Bar, by clicking these link users will be directed to the defined 'home' URL
- Enter the Home Link Text that is displayed when the Display Home Link option is selected
- Enter the Home Link URL to assign a URL to the Home Link Text (Note: if linking to an external website, ensure the URL is preceded by HTTP://)
Click Next to continue
Items can now be added, moved or deleted in the Nav Bar:
- To Add an Item, click the Add Item icon. The new item will be added one level below the currently selected item
- To create a root item, select the Navigation Bar item
- To Delete an Item, click the Delete Item icon. Click the applicable item and then the Delete icon (Note: the item will be automatically deleted, there will be no confirmation dialog)
- To insert a Separator, click the Separator icon. A separator can be used to divide the Nav Bar into sections if required
- Nav Bar items can also be moved up or down the list by using the up and down arrows
When adding an item, enter the following details as required (these details can be modified when editing an item):
- The Name is what will be displayed on the navigation, this should describe where the link will take the user
- The Link is the page that will be opened when the item is selected (Note: if linking to an external website, ensure the URL is preceded by HTTP://)
  - Select Insert Link
    
    The Insert Link option enables authorized users to create a link to content resources and pages. These links can be created simply by entering a direct link to an external URL, or alternatively using the advanced content option. A user can browse through the entire filesystem of the local intranet and link to any content they have security access to.
    
    iD Content
    
    The iD Content section within the Insert Link provides the user with the ability to navigate through the content within the intranet. Content can be located by manually navigating through the content structure or entering a direct URL into the space provided.

    The URL section within the Insert Link provides the user with the ability to manually enter a destination URL, the link's tooltip, and method in which the URL will be opened by the browser.

- The Link Type is how the page will open:
- Current Window opens the link in the current window, replacing the current content

- New Window opens a new browser window for the selected page; this is the recommended option for external links

- Pop-up opens a pop-up window which can be easily customized
Click Next to continue
Review the details, click Back to make changes
Click Finish to save and return to the Nav Editor menu
