Layout Manager

Layout Manager sets up the screen layout for your site. It uses inline editing of each subsite layout through our easy to use, drag, and drop interface.

This process is conducted through the Front End of iD and will depend on the level of Security applied.

What is a Layout?

A Layout is used to create the 'structure' of your intranet. It also presents the content, such as a Company Calendar, Quick Links or Images.

The Layout also permits content from other areas of the intranet to be reused in secondary locations i.e. News.

Users with appropriate security credentials can contribute to site content via the Front End of the intranet using Layout Manager.

Features of Layouts:

Layouts are based on templates as they set the underlying structure and dictate what can be added/edited to a layout
Components build the content of a layout
Each component is built for a specific purpose, e.g. insert a picture into the Image Component; including a map using the HTML Component; embed a video using the Video Component
Layouts are managed via the Layout Manager application, which can be accessed from the top Editing Toolbar via inline editing
Different formatting and styles are available
Each layout has version control, meaning you can revert to any saved version

What is a Subsite Template?

A Subsite Template controls how the layout is structured as well as what components are available and how those components function.

There are typically multiple layout templates within the system, and you will select the correct template for the subsite you are building.

Security settings govern who can create and edit templates and set which templates are available within a subsite.

Features of Subsite Templates:

The template is what sets the underlying structure for a layout and determines where applications and components can be placed on a layout
Components can be locked down so that layout creators have more/less flexibility in creating and editing their layouts
Each template has version control, meaning you can revert to any saved version
Templates are managed from the folder they were created in and can be made available to other folders in that subsite and other subsites
Templates are set to active when in use; however, templates can also be deactivated should they no longer be used
A suite of pre-built templates are available within the application which you can use or modify to meet your requirements
Default templates can be assigned so that a layout creator can create a layout without having to select the correct templates
