Social Media Integration

Configure Component Properties

This process is conducted through the Front End of iD.

Authorized users are given the ability to edit the properties of the Social Media Integration component. Be editing the properties, the authorized user can adjust the available functionality and the look and feel of the component within the site.

Component Properties
Template Properties

The Social Media Integration component Add-Ons share the same General and Template properties; click here to view.

The specific component properties which are unique to each Social Media Integration component Add-On are explained below:

Twitter

The Twitter Add-On enables authorized users to retrieve a public feed from Twitter and display it on the intranet.

The advantages of using this Add-On are:

Allows iD users to view the latest tweets from any public Twitter account
Displays feed from a particular Twitter page within the intranet framework

This component has the following properties listed on the Component tab:

Tweet Count
Default Value: 5
The maximum number of tweets to be displayed.


Time (in minutes) results should be cached
Default Value: None
The time (in minutes) in which results will be refreshed from Facebook. If this is left blank then results will not be cached.

Access Token
Default Value: None
Twitter APP's Access Token

Token Secret Key
Default Value: None
OAuth Consumer Key Secret.

Consumer Key
Default Value: None
OAuth Consumer Key.

Consumer Key Secret
Default Value: None
OAuth Consumer Key Secret.

Step by step instructions

Log into your Twitter account
Browse to https://dev.twitter.com/apps
If not already set up on Twitter, you must authenticate the iD Twitter Add-On by following steps 4-6 below - otherwise, skip down to step 7
Click on Create a new application
Fill in the app details, accept the terms and conditions and click on the Create your Twitter application button
You will then be presented with a details page containing the OAuth settings and Your access token.
Select on the existing application listed
If not already done so create your access token by selecting on the Create my access token button under the Your access token category
Obtain the Access token, Access token secret, Consumer key and Consumer secret
Drag and drop the component into position
Open up Component Properties
Set Tweet Count in the Component tab to 10
Set Time (in minutes) results should be cached
Copy and paste the Access token, Access token secret, Consumer key and Consumer secret in the corresponding fields
Set Heading in the General tab to The Age Tweets
Click OK to save the Component Properties
Save your changes

Facebook

The Facebook Add-On enables authorized users to retrieve a public feed from Facebook and display it on the intranet. This will allow iD users to view posts from the Facebook wall of a public Facebook page on the intranet.

The advantages of using this Add-On are:

Display a wall feed from a particular page
Images or videos are displayed within the component

This component has the following properties listed on the Component tab:

Group ID / Group Name
Default Value: None
Facebook Group's ID or Group Name

Access Token
Default Value: None
Facebook APP's Access Token. The Access Token is the token that authenticates the iD Facebook Add-On

Number of posts
Default Value: None
Maximum number of posts to be displayed

CachingTime (in minutes)
Default Value: None
The time (in minutes) in which results will be refreshed from Facebook. If this is left blank, then results will not be cached

Step by step instructions

If not already set up on Facebook, you must authenticate the iD Facebook Add-On by following steps 2-5 below - otherwise, skip down to step 6
Go to https://developers.facebook.com/apps
Click on Create New App
Fill in the app details, accept the terms and conditions and click OK (iD Component, Blank)
On the iD Component information page:

a. Select the website option under Select how your app integrates with Facebook

b. Enter the Site URL of your intranet appending your company domain name to the end, eg. companydomain.com">http://<myintranet>.companydomain.com

c. Click on save changes
Go to https://developers.facebook.com/tools/access_token/
Click on the Debug button for the iD Component application
Copy the App Token
Drag and drop the component into position
Open up Component Properties
Set Group ID / Group Name in the Component tab to Google
Set the Access Token to the value copied from https://developers.facebook.com/tools/access_token/
Set Number of Posts in the Component tab to 10
Set Heading in the General tab to Google Facebook Wall Posts
Click OK to save the Component Properties
Save your changes

Yammer

The Yammer Add-On enables authorized users to retrieve a feed from Yammer and display it on the intranet. This will allow iD users to view a feed from your company's Yammer account on the intranet.

The advantages of using this Add-On are:

Display a wall feed from a company's particular Yammer page (Note: this is only the feed for All Company, not any specific group feeds)
Images and videos are displayed within the component

This component has the following properties listed on the Component tab:

Access Token
Default Value: None
Yammer Access Token.

Caching Time (in minutes)
Default Value: None
The time (in minutes) in which results will be refreshed from Yammer. If this is left blank, then results will not be cached.

Number of posts
Default Value: 5
Number of posts to be displayed.

Example: retrieve feed from the adweb.com.au group

Step by step instructions

If not already set up in Yammer, you must authenticate the iD Yammer Add-On by following steps 2-11. If you already have a Yammer component setup, browse tohttps://www.yammer.com/client_applications/ click on the component, copy the Client ID and go to step seven
Firstly, sign into your Yammer account, then go to https://www.yammer.com/client_applications/
Click on the Register New App button
Fill in the iD Yammer details and click Continue
On completion, you will be presented with the Client ID and Client Secret Numbers. Then select the Basic Info link on the left-hand side
Add your intranet Website URL as shown
Now, take your Client ID from step 5 and replace it with the CONSUMER_KEY with the URL below:

https://www.yammer.com/dialog/oauth?client_id=CONSUMER_KEY

Then open the URL in a browser
Select Allow
You will be redirected to https://www,yourwebsite.com?code=CODE where CODE will be a series of letters and numbers. Record this code from the address bar.
Now replace the relevant values in the following URL with your Client ID, Client Secret Number, and Code:

https://www.yammer.com/oauth2/access_token.json?client_id=CLIENT_ID&client_secret=CLIENT_SECRET&code=CODE

Then open this URL in a new browser window
Now a web page of text will appear. Here, take note of the token value. To find this easily, search (control+F) for the word token. In the below example, the correct token is highlighted in yellow. This will be the same location you collect your unique token number

Drag and drop the component into position
Open up Component Properties
Set Access Token in the Component tab to the token value from step 10
Set Heading in the General tab to Company Yammer Feed
Click OK to save the Component Properties
Save your changes
