The Unformatted Text Component is designed to create plain text content without any styles or formatting. The component allows users to create, edit and maintain plain text content.

The advantages of using the Unformatted Text Component are:

Consistent content creation
Ease of use

Editing Content

Text Entry

Text can be entered either by clicking into the white text area or by selecting Edit Content as shown below.

Component Properties

Authorized users are given the ability to edit the properties of the Unformatted Text Component. By editing the properties the authorized user can adjust the available functionality and the look and feel of the component within the site.

The editing of the properties is divided into 3 tabs:

General Properties
Allows users to enable and disable general styling and formatting properties.
Component Properties
Allows users to enable and disable properties that are specific to the Unformatted Text Component e.g. Enable Height Restriction and Vertical Scrollbar.
Template Properties
These properties are set within the template and are not usually editable as they control the overall use of a component. For example, a component can be configured so that the component itself cannot be removed.

General
General properties are related to the appearance of the component within its nominated location. Listed below are the properties available for modification.

Name
Default Value: None
The name of the component, used as the identifier for the component.

Height
Default Value: 200px
The height of the component. Note that the height property is only used if Enable Height Restriction is enabled.

Border Color
Default Value: None
The border color sets the color of the border rendered around the component.

Border Style - NONE | DOTTED | DASHED | SOLID | DOUBLE | GROOVE | RIDGE | INSET | OUTSET
Default Value: None
The border style determines the style applied to the border applied around the component. A style of none indicates that a border will not be added.

Border Width
Default Value: 2px
The border width sets the border width around the component. A width of 0 indicates that a border will not be added.

Justification - LEFT | RIGHT | CENTER
Default Value: Left
The justification of all content within the component.

Padding - LEFT | RIGHT | TOP | BOTTOM
Default Value: 0px
The padding property specifies the padding that will be placed around the component. Specific values can be applied to the left, right, top and bottom sections of the component's boundary.

Heading
Default Value: None
If a text is added to the Heading component, a heading will be placed above the unformatted text using the iD Theme applied to the subsite (example shown below).

Component
Component properties are related to the specific component's visual appearance and functionality within the site. Listed below are the properties available for modification.

Enable Height Restriction
Default Value: False
When enabled the height of the Text Area will be controlled by the Height property. If disabled the Text Area will continue to grow as required.

Vertical Scrollbar
Default Value: True
When enabled a vertical scrollbar will be displayed within the component.

Template
The Template properties are set at the template level and cannot be edited via page editing. Listed below are the properties available for modification.

Allow Property Editing

Default Value: True

This property determines if the properties of the component can be modified from the default settings provided via the template.

Allow Inline Editing
Default Value: True
This property determines if the component's content can be modified from the default content provided via the template.

Allow Removal
Default Value: True
This property determines if the component can be removed from the current location.

Allow Repositioning
Default Value: True
This property determines if the component can be moved to its current position (drag and drop).

Allow Sharing
Default Value: True
This property determines if the component can be shared for other users to use within the site.
